Vanessa Counter

Practice Manager

Vanessa has overall responsibility for the running of the practice and will be happy to help you with any non-medical aspects of care and any suggestions, comments or complaints can be discussed with her. She can be contacted at our Thornaby surgery by ringing 01642 762921

Anita Clark

Practice Administrator

Anita assists Vanessa with the day to day running of the Practice, with particular responsibilty for our computer systems and data quality.

Reception / Admin Team

Our Reception / Administration team, composed of receptionists, administration staff & secretaries provide support to the clinical team at our Thornaby & Ingleby Barwick sites.

Denice Heslop

Nurse Practitioner /Nurse Team Manager

Denice manages our extended team of practice nurses whilst being available for emergency same day appointments at either Thornaby or Barwick Medical Centres. Denice also assesses requests for home visits, providing support for the doctors. As an experienced Nurse Practitioner Denice is fully qualified to assess patients needs and prescribe medications when these are indicated.

Julie Cook

Practice Nurse

Many of our patients may know Julie in her previous role as a community midwife. She joined our practice nurse team in 2004 as a Treatment Room nurse. Julie has developed her skills and now provides chronic disease management monitioring at both our Thornaby & Ingleby Barwick surgeries.

Diane Fleet

Practice Nurse

Diane joined our team in 2008 to provide Treatment Room services, immunisations, cervical cytology and practice nursing services. Diane now provides chronic disease management monitioring at both our surgeries.

Sue Sheehan

Practice Nurse

Sue joined the practice in 1989 as a receptionist and she has worked her way through the practice, first as an administrator then as a Healthcare Assistant. She has spent three years studying nursing at the University of Teesside and returned to us in February 2009 as a qualifed Practice Nurse.

Lauren Millar

Practice Nurse

Lauren, joined us as a newly qualified nurse in September 2010. She undertakes immunisations, cervical cytology and practice nursing services

Health Care Assistants

Michelle and Debbie our Health Care Assistants provide a range of support clinical services. For example, new patient registration checks, weight management clinics, smoking cessation, ECGs, spirometry. They also assist with minor surgical procedures as well as taking responsibility for ensuring availability of all clinical stock.
