Weekdays 8.30am - 6.00pm (8.00pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays)
(except Tuesday when it is closed from 12.30 - 1.30pm for staff training)
Barwick Medical Centre is open:
Weekdays 8.30-12.30 and 1.30-6.00Saturday mornings 8.00am - 12 noon
Reception staff are available during these times to respond to patients either in the practice or on the telephone. They can make appointments, note queries and respond to a range of patient requests. Reception staff will always try to respond as quickly as possible to patient queries and requests but response times may be dependant on the availability of the doctor on call.
If you need to speak to a doctor or nurse during surgery opening times, the receptionist will take your details and pass your request to the nurse or doctor on call. The nurse or on call doctor may need to telephone you back if they are unable to respond immediately.

When the surgery is closed, telephone this number if you need medical attention urgently. A nurse or a doctor may give you advice over the telephone, ask you to visit the Urgent Care Centre or arrange a home visit if he / she thinks it is necessary.

CLOSURE FOR STAFF TRAINING
Both surgeries close occasionally to allow all members of our Team to participate in off site or in-house training sessions. These sessions are necessary as they give us protected time to ensure that all staff are kept up to date with clinical and non-clinical developments within the NHS, allowing us to maintain the highest standards of care for our patients. While the surgery is closed, emergency medical cover is provided by Northern Doctors Urgent Care Ltd, the local Out of Hours provider.
